On the Parks Agenda: Community Park Clean Up Day, Archery, Tennis Training, Senior Foodies and more.

Parks Agenda

If you’re looking for a fun way to give back to the community and to help keep our Platinum Scenic City beautiful, join us on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Community Park, 1700 Glenn Lakes Lane, for a “Park Clean Up Day!” The clean up is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and volunteers are encouraged to arrive at Community Park at 8:30 a.m. to check in and receive event materials.


Fall Archery starts on Monday, Sept. 9 and will be every Monday until Oct. 7. This beginner session will focus on basic techniques, safety, equipment, and more! The class is for students ages 8 to 18 and all equipment will be provided. The cost is $60 for the five sessions.


In addition to the initiatives above, the Parks & Recreation Department has a full program agenda that is fun for all ages. Visit or see details below: 

Junior Tennis Preseason Training

  • What: Prepare for tennis season by working on your skills at this free preseason training
  • When: All day on Monday, Aug. 19
  • · Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Senior Foodies

  • · What: Monthly event that showcases various eateries in the area
  • · When: 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 22
  • · Where: Willie’s Grill and Icehouse, 945 Hwy. 6, Sugar Land
  • · Cost: Attendees pay for their own meals

Blood Drive

  • What: Help save lives! Donate blood at this event and be a hero.
  • When: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23
  • · Where:  Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Back-to-School Match Play

  • players in your age group.
  • · When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24
  • · Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
  • · Cost: $10 per player, and free for current Missouri City Junior Tennis Members. Must register by Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Free Softball Clinic

  • · What: Batter up! Head over to Sta-Mo Park to work on your softballs skills. This free lesson is for girls ages 6-16.
  • · When: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21 and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24
  • · Where: Sta-Mo Park, 1917 Moore Road

Book Talk

  • · What: Come discuss the most popular books with Fort Bend County Librarian Elizabeth Bullard!
  • · When: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27
  • · Where: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
